The Basle civic wind band welcomes Emperor Sigismund to the Council of Basle. He recieves the keys of the city.

Music and politics were inseperable in the middle ages. Composing and performing representational music for important politicians was as much a part of a mediaeval composer's life as was travelling in the train of his patron on endless European tours.

Les haulz et les bas plays music from the centres of European power in the 15th century, the Councils of Constance (1414-18) and Basle (1431-49), and the Courts of Burgundy, Hapsburg and the Medici, with music by Du Fay, Wolkenstein, the Monk of Salzburg and from the Trent codices.
